While their title is not inaccurate, it paints a bias against the person in question. A more reasonable unbiased headline could have been: Open Carry Texas founder arrested for assaulting a police officer, court papers say.
Or how about this one: Open Carry Texas founder arrested. Reason for arrest under controversy.
Both of those headlines give enough info for the reader to want to read the story or move on. The goal of an article is to get them to read the story. That’s what the author Erika Esquivel wants.
So we know she is going to get more reactions if she just paints one side of the story, and she does. Terrible reporting, just terrible.
But at least this incident about Olmos Park and open carry is getting some media attention.
